Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Last updated: 17 June 2026

Triad is a free, browser-based game you can play for fun. These terms keep things simple and set out what you can expect (and what you can't) when you use the site.

By accessing or using triadsim.com (the "Site") and the Triad game (the "Game"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the Site.

The Game

Triad is a free implementation of Sim, the graph-colouring game devised by Gustavus Simmons in 1969, in which two players claim the edges of a six-point graph in alternating colours. The Game is provided for entertainment and educational interest. No account, sign-up, or payment is required to play.

Provided "as is"

The Site and the Game are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. I don't guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of bugs, or that any defects will be corrected. Your use of the Site is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of this Site will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Site or the Game. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Acceptable use

You're welcome to play and share the Game. Please don't:

Intellectual property

The name "Triad," the Site's design, code, written articles, and original artwork are the property of the Site operator and may not be copied or reused without permission, except where a licence is explicitly granted. The underlying game of Sim is a long-established mathematical game and is not claimed as proprietary; the educational and historical content describing it draws on public sources, which are credited where relevant.

Your data

Triad is deliberately lightweight. The Game does not require an account and stores your scores and game progress locally in your own browser (via your browser's local storage); that information stays on your device and is not collected by a server. If this ever changes (for example, if optional features are added), this page and a separate privacy notice will be updated to reflect it.

External links

The Site may link to third-party websites for reference or further reading. Those sites are not under my control, and I'm not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Following external links is at your own discretion.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Any changes take effect once posted on this page, and the "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
